Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
